Mavis Spencer and Curley

Post by Ammy22 »

I follow her on Instagram but I am to nervous to ask. I saw Aron Vale has Curley or Carissimo 25 now on the East Coast. What happened to the partnership? Did she sell him? I noticed she was posting videos from Europe and not in America anymore. Someone in the know care to chime in? I followed these two from the beginning so I’m hoping this is just temporary.

My understanding is an investor bought the horse and gave the ride to Vale.

I am saddened to hear this. Was he not her horse?

The horse's owner was (and still is according to USEF) Debbie Smith of Beverly Hills, FL. Maybe the owner didn't want the horse to go to Europe. He is not registered with FEI. Not every horse is able to be competitive in Europe, it's expensive to send a horse to Europe, he's only 10, etc. Mavis is a great rider, but so is Aaron.

You are so correct about FEI. Humble apologies.

Change of ownership in July, he was previously owned by Georgy Maskrey-Segesman who Mavis worked with.

Not sure what's happened there

Mavis never owned Curley, he was owned by Georgie Maskrey-Segesman and she was his rider. Mavis worked for Georgie and they parted ways after Devon, she is now based at her boyfriends place in Italy. Curley was sold for BIG $$$, will be interesting to see how he does with his new rider. He jumps like a freak and just needs a rider that is brave enough to go faster.

Was also starting to wonder if Mavis was on extended vacation or if Curly was taking time off? Very sad to hear this news, it was fun to watch Mavis and Curly together. Hope Aaron continues to bring him along in a positive manner? Impressive how Rodrigo P. has brought Major Tom along so patiently with beautiful rounds and results.
