Jeanne Marie has been around for ages. I’ve always found her not political and pretty fair.

jeanne marie is the only good judge on that whole panel. mike rosser is as political as they come, the panel of holly & jenn was a freaking joke. have no idea who jesse lang is but her and mike together was tragic. troy is a fine judge, we’ve had him several times. but i thought maybe, maybe they could’ve picked a better panel of judges.

Judges are hard to come by these days. I too thought the judging panel was a bit 😳 but I do know that you’ve got to start somewhere when moving up as a judge. We need more people to apply. It’s a thankless job.

That’s an understatement!

I was just glad the panel was not all male, which seems to happen an awful lot, especially for the big classes. And especially for a sport that has so many female judges and participants.

Did anyone realize that all the judges were basically sitting together? Isn’t the point of having such a large panel is that they get different views of the rounds?

Yes, we were sitting up above the middle panel on Saturday and noticed that they had them all in a row, not very far apart, and thought that was odd because the vantage point wasn't very different and usually at least one panel is on the far side of the ring (and needs to be IMO!). It then made it extra strange to see wide score variations on some of the rounds, when they were all sitting in a row with only minor differences in view.

The people putting the IHD together have a program of pairing 3 very experienced derby judges with three up-and-coming new "R"s
