Derby Finals

Post by CuriousCat12 »

First - why was jimmy torano looking pissed off during the awards? He came into the second round with a 10 pt deficit to John and Geffrey. What is up his ass???

Second - do we like the tier two format? It seems like the top placing horses in the tier two group also places in the normal group. I don’t really understand the point. But maybe I am being ignorant

I noticed Jimmy being upset too. Couldn't smile and barely said thank you.
Judging seemed a little rough but with 6 judges I am sure they scored what they saw.

1. jimmy is terrible, and so is his son. never got over jj chipping all but four jumps at PF and then ripping on his pony’s mouth as he was walking out, wonder who he learned that from

2. i don’t understand the tiers tbh. seems kind of nice to give smaller riders a fighting chance in the second round though

I didn't see her round. Was it not deserving of those scores?

i was only paying half attention, but nothing major caught my eye. just the score range was a little funny to me

I didn't understand the scoring at all. High 80's for a round with a late change behind (3-4 strides late), mid 90's for rounds with a rub the whole crowd heard. When did scores become so inflated!?

I think the judges enjoy throwing big scores out to encourage the sport more but idk. In the spirit of things I was rewatching past winner’s rounds and they won with high 80s low 90s. Nothing like it is today

I wonder if Jimmy was mad about the rub by John French. Maybe he felt the judges let that slide. Weird that not one of them penalized him.

Jimmy's Handy round today was the best, but it's that cumulative score thing that hurt him, coming in down 10 points. John's round was fabulously consistent, but really--all that mouth play be the horse. Ugly. And John's round wasn't as brilliant as Jimmy's, nor Geoff Hessalink/Drum Roll. Give me Brunello or Rumba. PUHLEEEZ.
