Ok but what we really want to know is whose grooms they were...

and #2, quit inviting shady characters who aren't working there to the show grounds. It's like 95% women and children around. FFS people.

Wasn’t it a couple of grooms who were working at the show who were involved?

Allegedly, one was Longview's. Not sure on the other.
The shooter was allegedly not a groom, but a friend of someone. There was a soccer game --oh, and ALCOHOL--and sources say the victim grooms got mad at the shooter over something during the soccer game, and beat him up. So the shooter leaves the property, and comes back with a gun at 2:15 am. Grooms still hanging out, and get shot. That part was told to me, I don't have first hand knowledge.

And Huntgurl, though naive on facts, it not far off on opinion. Seems like most of these "international level shows" have some sort of lawlessness happening all the time. Remember when Thermal grounds were on lock down due to a shooting several years ago? The USHJA/FEI is sooooo concerned with the "lights out" policy for horse welfare, it's more impressive to require shows to curfew grooms gathering past 10 pm. This party where the shooting occurred was 50 feet from Barn 1. Other nights, grooms have been out passed midnite, drinking, whooping, being disruptive on the barn aisles. That is more stressful for the horses than lights being on. For starters, it's time to tell the grooms to go to bed.
