This might take you to the right place on the video. Otherwise you can scroll down and click on his name to go straight to that round.

Note to Karl…sometimes you don’t need to reinvent the wheel!
To quote T Swft “ You;re the problem, it’s you’”
Please watch the video’s of Julian Epaillard’s brilliant rides on your once
breathtaking Caracole, learn something about how this real horseman
brought out the best in her. The roadmap is right in front of you.
You mentioned hackamore’s aren’t for you.
Maybe it works for her and you need to learn how to ride with one?
Once again, you have the roadmap right in front of you.
Please let go of your insecure ego and parental entitlement long enough
to know that your are the problem, not her. McClain, Laura and Kent
are brilliant because over the years they have learned & adapted their
riding to fit their different horses needs & temperaments. All three bringing
along fantastic/ winning horses with long careers.
How can you not watch yourself and not see your “yeehaw” style?
Humble yourself for Caracole’s sake, your future teammates and all the people
that have to witness this poor mare’s demise in your harsh hands.❤️🐴

Thanka for sharing that video- it needs to be all across social media to show off Karl Cook for what he really is. There is no way a mare that talented is going to stick that treatment for long. Or his ego will keep her at home as he'd hardly risk that happening again at a US show. She won't ever be sold but I pity the animal because it's going to be pretty horrible until one of then gives up or breaks.

That video was hard to watch. The way he was yanking on that poor mare's face was disgusting, even after the round was done. I would hope that he is never selected for another team. Just because he can buy a very expensive grand prix horse doesn't make him a good rider. He needs to go back to the basics. Feel bad for the horse.

And, he finally quiets down and lets the mare do her thing and she delivers, because she is a superstar. Had to read the comments on COTh.. all the excuses for « poor » KC having a bad day. The mare was bought to get him to the Olympics; he has barely any team experience; he has no championship experience; even though he went to his WC Finals how many years ago??? (And did well, but what to that horse after that effort) Imported a world class rider to be his personal pro (who has now gone back to live in France after a decade, and stated he will only meet up with KC at the big events). So, his plan is to go slow and run around small GPs and do one 1.60 with her (which they win, because, he mostly let her be the phenomenon she is); he also only generally jumps a welcome class, doesn’t jump the JO and then the GP, which I totally understand if you want to win the GO, but what about getting a bit more ring mileage when you actually need it; meanwhile, gets a bit more team experience with the other mare. So, off he goes to the Pan And with his new f*** Off clothing line (but not the cringy USA KC star helmet), according to him, and his own « new and different » ideas on riding and horsemanship (what did EN do all those years, except ride young ones and the ones he broke?), as exemplified by his Walking and Talking (including a his expert opinions on bits) fan base, to show that he is all that for his fan base, and on the right path for 2024 (with a support staff of how many?; you have to think that there is a sports psychologist in there too). Then, looks like a failed amateur on the first day. You may not win a championship on the first day, but you certainly can lose it. And, far from it being jealousy, you have to question if all the millions spent to get him there (over how many years and how many horses?) seem to have been all that well spent. At least, he got that last swing at the bar, to redeem himself and make a « deposit » back in Caracole’s « bank account » so, the next he asks for a big withdrawal from the mare, she isn’t bankrupt and will hopefully still want to keep going. Good luck next time. Maybe, a little less talking and more listening and watching?

You certainly pressed my thoughts in a much more polite way than I could have. If this is what’s put forward for the Olympics it’s a very sad state of affairs. I guess this is the best America can do

I’d like to see you do better. It wasn’t a bad round at all. I’ve seen much worse out of McLain when he was at Tryon a few weeks ago. Had a El on one horse and faults on another. Breezier crashed her fence and fell off. Why don’t you talk shit about them?

You act like he was riding like Andy Kocher during Spruce Meadows.

Karl went clear the next day. They had an off day. Everyone does and McLain taking a jab at Karl is shitty. Ward should keep his mouth shut cause his daddy killed horses for money.

Having a bad round with an Olympic berth at stake can be forgiven. The constant yanking and pulling on the horse's mouth and no show of appreciation for her effort is what is hard to overlook. If McLain or Beezie have a bad round, you NEVER see such a lack of horsemanship on their part. That is what lakes it that much worse and he is deserving of all the criticism he gets. Many times money cannot buy class.

I cannot get over the crotch forum commentary re cooks first day. Very few have actually commented upon what was animal cruelty with the way cook behaved on the way to leaving the arena. The fact he lost his temper so publicly when under such scrutiny, means that that wasn't the first time. No one of his age and experience should be allowed to get away with that at an Olympic qualifier when horse sport is on a knife edge for inclusion beyond the Los Angeles games.
