Karl Cook Pan Am Round

Post by Daisyduke »

Maybe he should do more walking and less riding. How embarrassing for the team. He needs to go to pony club. The horse is magnificent and should go to someone like Kent. He rode terrible and had zero control. Shouldn’t you figure out a bridle before a championships? Shame on Robert R for putting this embarrassment on the team. It might cost them an Olympic team spot!

i’d love to know how much karl paid him to be on the team. i couldn’t believe he was picked as one of our “best”. i’ve said it a while ago, but i don’t think we will have a team in the olympics this year

He was way off any reasonable line to the oxer where the mare ducked out because she was like "you cannot be serious" - he's lucky he didn't come off when she jumped the fill beside the standard and he ended up partially on her neck before she took over and he couldn't steer or stop. At the end of his round they showed Robert Ridland shaking his head in the kiss & cry, that really said it all. It was ridiculous.

Mercifully we aren't eliminated yet, he was our drop score but it meant we had to keep Kent's 8 faults. Tomorrow is a 2-round nations cup format to decide the team outcome, and we have to be in the top 3 teams not yet qualified. Currently we are in 5th, and Brazil is leading and they are already qualified. So there's a chance, it just got much harder than it should have been.

The US has had two years to qualify for the Olympics. Do not blame Karl’s bad day for the team not qualifying.

The look on Robert Ridland’s face on the kiss and cry was priceless. He’s so regretting taking the bribe from Karl’s mom to get him on the team. Also I don’t believe there is a drop score in this format and time is added in. The mare looked like she had been over prepared for sure. But he rode her into a standard and she was like I’m out of here! He had zero control throughout the round but the horse is so careful that she kept most everything up despite his terrible rides to every fence. Why did Lillie Keenan not get selected over this wild card?

He used to have the same groom for all big competitions. Now that one is with NDJ. Now every time you see Karl he has a different groom. None that have been in the industry long or at a top level. The other riders on the team always have the same groom for many years. I heard KC pays the most of any rider so I don’t understand why he constantly changes grooms. Everyone else keeps the same person for big shows and championships. Perhaps he should do the same.
