Karl Cook Pan Am Round
Re: Karl Cook Pan Am Round
My sources say the one groom was recently fired for letting a horse drink from a puddle and giving it salmonella. He always hires green and clueless people on his team so he can easily brainwash them into thinking he’s a genius and drinking the kool aid. Of course he does his own formula instead of what veteran top competitors do and hire a head groom with experience at this level and is always the same person regardless of what horse is going.

He loses his stirrup quite a bit. I saw it happened in Barcelona too. It’s pretty embarrassing that he has to come to a stop in order to get his stirrup back. Even my pony kids learn to drop their stirrups and pick them up while cantering. Karl should get some lessons on this. Also my pony kids do a better job stopping runaways. Turn into the rail or something instead of galloping across the ring.

So, running around (with yanking and reefing into a short distance) to win 1.45/50 GPs (and ONE 1.60) didn’t prep him to ride an extremely talented and hot mare around an actual championship course?
He certainly looked like a looked like a spoilt kid leaving the ring checking and spurring the mare after she did continue on, including leaving quite long into the oxer-vertical . She was very nice to come out today and give it a try, no matter what he was doing trying to pilot. And still no kindness on exiting. If I was that mare (and Kalinka) I think I would f*** off more often . Have any of his horses finished their careers not stopping? I see that the stallion they must have paid mega bucks for that he barely showed, has just started showing back in Europe.

No disrespect to your pony kids, because, I thought, as I watched him, that he looked like a (clueless) pony kid getting run away with!Hunterdiva wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:27 am He loses his stirrup quite a bit. But he is a spoilt pony brat all grown up. Always blames the horse. None of the horses were difficult with there previous riders. As soon as he gets them they become crazy. And yes that Cashpaid stallion went back to Europe and is now jumping clear rounds and nations cups! He’s all about himself. He doesn’t care about the team.

Thankfully there is in fact a drop score. Yesterday was a speed class, today was traditional nations cup format.Hunterdiva wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 8:36 am Also I don’t believe there is a drop score in this format and time is added in.
This seems premature for Karl and this horse. He doesn't have the partnership solidified and halfway through the mare decides she needs to be in charge. Kent and McLain both keep a lid on hot horses, Karl needed to be further down the road on having control and rideability before we had to count on him for contributing to Olympic qualification. I too would have liked to see Lillie Keenan get the chance to get the championship experience. I feel like her rounds would have been more composed.

It seems like way too much horse for him and certainly premature. He has only shown it at one venue and only one 5*. The chef is to blame for letting this brat on a team. At least this will solidify that he will never jump on a team again and will have zero chance at the Olympics.EmmanuelTLopez wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 5:18 pmThankfully there is in fact a drop score. Karl definitely does not deserve a medal. But his horse does. Way to put the pressure on the rest of the riders… By far the most embarrassing rider of the entire games. Everyone is talking about his awful riding all over the world. Poor horse.

Based upon the quotes in crotch and body language in video interviews so far, one suspects that Robert Ridland may not be in role for much longer if ward, kraut and Farrington have their way! Plus ward is training plenty of trust fund babies himself. But in fairness, they are all fairly capable. But I'd say ward especially is raging...his first quote in crotch re preparedness for Paris is a dig at Cook and by default, ridland....

Is there anyplace to watch his disastrous round? I can only imagine how embarrassing that was for all the other riders. Saw him smiling in the picture from the medal ceremony and wanted to barf.
